The agroecological plan for the Côtes de Gascogne wine sector, launched in 2019, has two axes worked out in local partnership with the Chamber of Agriculture of Gers and IFV from Sud-Ouest:
– changing practices to encourage all operators to be even more environmentally friendly and make them gradually achieve high environmental value certification.
– developing of organic products while respecting the environment and the type of product.
– changing practices to encourage all operators to be even more environmentally friendly and make them gradually achieve high environmental value certification.
– developing of organic products while respecting the environment and the type of product.
The dynamic is based on knowledge and the sharing of experiences, in 2020 through an online survey and interviews on practices, then on the development of a group of winegrowers committed to working on the best practices, more relevant in agroecology.
The plan is supported by a substantial investment by the union of more than € 300,000 in research and development, on two essential projects:
– the creation of resistant grape varieties descended from the emblematic grape varieties of Gascony: Colombard, Gros Manseng and Tannat,
– the participation in a thesis on the alteration of thiol-type aromas by copper during alcoholic fermentation
