The 51 Grands Crus d’Alsace gathered in a workshop in 2019 adopted the “Grands crus en fleur” project to promote land and biodiversity. Since 2020, the pilot project has been developed on the Grand Cru Praelatenberg between Orschwiller and Kintzheim, bringing together all the winegrowers around the planting of trees and shrubs highlighting the Grand cru landscape, visible to citizens and consumers while offering a biodiversity boost to insects and birds.
The regional approach allows for local, environmental, technical and financial exchange and partnership, with the support of AVA (the Association of Winegrowers of Alsace). It also motivates the deployment of new projects in favor of biodiversity (nesting boxes, repair of dry stone walls, apiaries).
The idea is that each Grand Cru of Alsace can take advantage of the Praelatenberg experience to set up its Grand Cru en fleur project.
Some Grands crus are already joining the process.
